How to register?
And if I don't register?

What about the web links I add to YouLink.org?
Which kinds of link can I post?
I've just noticed that when I add a link my username is not reported near it. Why?
Well, the small arrow near the name...
Ok, what happens when I insert a link?
So, how do labels work?
Hold on...I've inserted the worng labels! What can I do now?
Ok, I see colored labels near the links...
I see six tabs on top of searches. What are those?
How does rating work?
Great! So the more stars the better the rating is?
So when I submit a new web link...
And what about...
Couldn't I share the link to my friends directly without using YouLink.org?
Ok, I'd like to post some comments about the links...
I'm enjoying YouLink.org but the website is a bit slow...
I want to contact you!
What is YouLink.org? (Top)
YouLink.org is a simple, hopefully straighforward, dynamic website that allows users to add and rate the web links they think are the most hot or meaningful!
Not only that, but through a system of labels (maximum 8 labels per web link) YouLink.org enables searches across all the links that are stored in it!
Is this a big search engine competitor? (Top)
Ha ha ha..., you must be joking! We don't have the will neither resources to index the whole web automatically...for that you can use any of the existing search engines. Those are already great!
Again, what is YouLink.org then? (Top)
Well you can see it as a human rated search engine. Cool isn't it?
Search?!? (Top)
Yes indeed, you can search through the labels. And you will have the results ordered by rating.
This is like slicing through the entire population and have a ordered subset of the most interesting links!
Why registering? (Top)
Once you register on YouLink.org you'll be allowed to add web links and most of all to rate all the other people links.
We care about your privacy, and we won't send any spam to your email address. We just need your email address for two things, to confirm your registration and we'll need it just to allow you to reset your password.
No tricks, no spam, that's it.
How to register? (Top)
Just click on the top right corner Register or here!
Once in that page, just insert your email, a username and a password (at least 6 charachters long). Then repeat the password and click on Register me!.
If there are any errors, those will appear right next to where they are caused. Correct them and click the button again.
That's it! An email will arrive in your inbox. Clicking on the link will activate your login!.
And if I don't register? (Top)
Well, you will not be able to add web links, to rate others' links but still you can browse the site and perform searches!
Ok, I will register. What about my privacy? (Top)
We care a lot about your privacy...just think that we won't display the links' submitter name. We won't use your email if not to confirm your registration or to allow you to reset your password. As you can notice, we don't even require you to submit your real name/surname or gender, neither age.
In 3 words: we love privacy!
What about the web links I add to YouLink.org? (Top)
You can post the links to whatever you want...just keep in mind that the responsability for what you submit is yours only. Please have a look at the disclaimer.
Which kinds of link can I post? (Top)
Well at the moment two kind of links are supported: http:// and ed2k:// links.
Just keep in mind the ed2k:// links feature is still under development; again, keep in mind that the responsability for what you submit is yours only.
Please have a look at the disclaimer.
I've just noticed that when I add a link my username is not reported near it. Why? (Top)
If you want to, just use the checkbox Public name near the Add this! button. Naturally this feature (report your name when you add a link) is absolutely optional.
Again, we really care about your privacy!.
Well, the small arrow near the name... (Top)
Yes, can be used to retrieve all the links that user has added on YouLink.org; just remeber that only the public links will be reported. If a link has been submitted as private it won't be reported even if you search for all links posted by a specific user!
Ok, what happens when I insert a link? (Top)
Well, if the web link is ok and is not a duplicate it will be inserted in YouLink.org, with the labels you posted.
So, how do labels work? (Top)
Every label you post can be maximum 16 characters long. Symbols like , or ; or even - are considered separator.
Of all the punctuation symbols only . is not considered a separator.
All the strange symbols like # or @ will be erased... Basically valid labels will be words composed by normal characters and numbers; just remeber that a label has to be at least 2 characters long or a number to be considered valid.
For example if you insert the word "test+1" is like inserting test and 1.
Instead if you insert "test;a" is like inserting test only because the only character a is not valid: you need to specify at least 2 characters.
Trying to insert the following "#&^%test" is like inserting test only!.
Hold on...I've inserted the worng labels! What can I do now? (Top)
Well don't despair. You can always change the labels of your links. Just click on and you' be able to update those labels!
Ok, I see colored labels near the links... (Top)
Yes indeed, and you can click on them. When you click on them they will go on top of the search pane, so you'll be able to discriminate and use different labels.
When you click on any of the top labels you will remove that very label from the current search, possibly having more results.
Labels are even a fast way to perform muti-dimensional searches. Ins't that cool?
I see six tabs on top of searches. What are those? (Top)
The three tabs allow you to order your label searches in thw following ways:
Most Recent will allow you to order the result links from the latest to the oldest
By Date/Rating will allow you to order the result links by date and then by rating
By Rating will allow you to order the result links according to their rating
Today's will allow you to get the links posted today ordered by their rating
Last Week's will allow you to get the links posted during the last week ordered by their rating
Last Month's will allow you to get the links posted during the last month ordered by their rating
Basically you can add other criterias to the searches, for better browsing!
How does rating work? (Top)
Simple: once you log in, you will be allowed to vote for other people's links:
will increase the rating of the link by +1
will decrease the rating of the link by -1
used to mark dead/spam web links will decrease the rating of the link by -25
Please note that you can only vote once per web link. Once you cast your vote on a particular link you won't be able to vote for it again, so chose carefully!
The more one link gets higher rating the more will be the number of stars before the rating!
Great! So the more stars the better the rating is? (Top)
Yes indeed, absolutely! Keep in mind that 1 star is assigned if the rating is between 1 and 4, 2 stars if the rating is between 5 and 24, 3 stars if the rating is between 25 and 124 and so on...
So when I submit a new web link... (Top)
..it will simply have a rating of 0.
That's why we can give you the unique identifier to the link you just added. You'll be able to share it directly with friends and/or people you know.
And possibly if they like it they'll increase the rating!
And what about... (Top)
The gray arrow near the title?
That link will allow you to display the unique link, so you'll be able to share it again with friends/people you know!
Couldn't I share the link to my friends directly without using YouLink.org? (Top)
Yes but it's limiting. Just think to this: sharing your link through YouLink.org will allow you to share it potentially with the whole world.
It's all about sharing, as the internet was conceived. Sharing what you think is important/funny/cool is about internet.
Isn't that great?
Ok, I'd like to post some comments about the links... (Top)
At the moment we are not sure if this could be a good feature or not...
Simplicity of usage/rating should be the main focus of YouLink.org; nevertheless we are taking the idea of comments into consideration.
I'm enjoying YouLink.org but the website is a bit slow... (Top)
We will always try to optimize it, to make it faster, but remember that our resources are a bit limited!
I want to contact you! (Top)
Ok, ok, just send an email at info at youlink.org. Hopefully we should be able to answer you!
